Attack of the Giant Cockroaches!

They've faced 5 elimination games and they've won all 5 of them.  Tomorrow the Giants face the biggest test against the Cardinals and Kyle Lohse and they couldn't be happier.

"I hope you guys enjoy the games," said Hunter Pence, "we love to play them."

Boy do we enjoy them.  What's not to enjoy?  The Giants facing elimination in game 5 needed Barry Zito to keep the Giants close and to last at least 5 innings.  Instead he lasted nearly 8 innings and completely shut down a Cardinals lineup that normally feasts on left handed pitching.

In game 6, the Giants came back to San Francisco with probably their most effective pitcher on the mound in Ryan Vogelsong and he delivered again.  7 innings pitched with a career high 9 strikeouts to dismantle the Cardinals for the 2nd elimination game in a row.

This team does not give up.  The Giants' general manager Brian Sabean affectionately referred to this team as the cockroaches after the Giants came back down 0-2 against the Cincinnati Reds to win in 5 games.  He told a writer that if he put 9 of these 2012 Giants in a microwave 8 of them would come out alive.  Sabean could not have been more right.

Facing seemingly insurmountable odds down 0-2 to the reds and down 1-3 to the Cardinals the Giants took each game one at a time and have never given up.

From the Reverend Hunter Pence rallying the Giants around in the first elimination game, to Scutaro coming back from a very rough slide from Matt Holliday to be the game hero twice this series.  This Giants team does not know how to quit and will not go away.

Before the Giants, no NL team had ever come back from an 0-2 deficit to win a 5 game series, No Giants team has ever come back from a 3-1 deficit to win a 7 games series, and the Cardinals are 11-4 in game 7's the best win percentage in the entire league.

For some reason I don't think these Giant's would have it any other way.

Laws of the Day

Marco Scutaro has taken revenge to the next level.  Since the Holliday slide/tackle, Scutaro has hit 9 for 18 with 4 RBI's, meanwhile Matt Holliday is 2 for 16 and hurt.
