Swept off to Pittsburg...

Good news Giants fans! The Giants will NOT lose today!

...

Today is Travel day...

As the Giants head to Pittsburgh, they look back on a terrible short homestand that saw a different player each day really step up and STINK up the whole place.

Really it started in Colorado when the most reliable pitcher on our staff, Matt Cain, looked utterly human in a 10 run shellacking by the Colorado Rockies.

Since then Madison Bumgarner continued his struggles this year with a horrible outing being lifted in the 3rd inning and being charged with 3 runs, 1 unearned. Timmy was charged with 5 runs in 6.1 innings, although some were thanks to Javier Lopez not being able to shut down the Braves with an inherited bases loaded situation. And yesterday, despite a good effort from a flu ridden Jonathan Sanchez, the bullpen including Affeldt, Romo and Wilson, all gave up runs to the Braves to lose the game 9-6 in extra innings.

With the exception of Bumgarner, most of these guys have been doing great so far this season, and all have had a turn at struggling to get batters out. The Giants have been especially generous when it comes to giving free passes to first base. In the 3 games against the Braves, the Giants issued 16 walks. 6 of them were from Tim Lincecum in the 5-2 loss on Saturday.

4 of the hitters who were walked on Sunday eventually scored, including a walk to Martin Prado by Jeremy Affeldt who then gave up a 2 run homer to Jason Heyward

The only way I can think of to stop this slide is to ask the guy who started it, to stop the bleeding. Matt Cain will start in Pittsburg tomorrow and hopefully against one of the League's whipping boys, the Giants can start to get back on track.

Laws of the Day

Timmy had 7 walks in 4 starts before issuing 6 on Saturday's loss

  1. Affeldt gave up a 3 run homer... just to make you feel worse.

    The walk disease kills all.
