I was just as mad as every other Giants fan.
WHY MELKY WHY?! (But thanks for the wins and the World Series home field advantage...)
After just one game with the Giants so called A-team, Melky Cabrera was caught cheating using Testosterone and the Giants' future looked as bleak as ever and with the loss the very same day, the Giants sat 1 game behind the 1st place Dodgers.
Fast forward a week and naturally the Giants are in 1st place with a 2.5 game lead over the Dodgers and have scored 5.28 runs in the past 7 games with a 5-2 record post Melkman... Try explaining that.
Oh wait I CAN explain it... it's because the Giants have been winning the way the Giants have always won! With good pitching! It's not a novel idea folks... your starting pitchers do well and the team has a great chance at winning. With the exception of Vogelsong hitting a couple speed bumps lately, Lincecum, Cain and Bumgarner are all fresh off great starts, and wouldn't you know it, all 3 of them faced off against the NL West rival Dodgers in a 3 game sweep that was completed tonight...
Let me say that again.. Bumgarner, Lincecum and Cain combined to get 3 victories allow 2 earned runs and SWEEP THE DODGERS...
Do I think a testosterone improved Melky Cabrera helps this team? Sure... But do we need him to win this division and make a playoff push? No we do not. What we DO need is a resurgent Tim Lincecum who will have the kind of September and October he had in 2010.
Meanwhile, how about seeing more of the Joaquin Arias we saw tonight? 3-4 with a homer and 2 doubles... good gracious.

Madison Bumgarner is 6th in the NL in ERA and 1st in WHIP at 0.99. Cy Young Candidate maybe?
